Some capable sprinters are lining up again after the John Monash a couple of weeks ago as well as some pretty handy types resuming from spells that will be looking for bigger fish to fry later in the Spring.
1 MR BARITONE (NZ) Michael Moroney Mark Zahra 8 58.5
2 DOURO VALLEY Peter Morgan James Winks 9 58.5
3 ROYAL IDA Luke Oliver Brad Rawiller 10 58.5
4 STANZOUT Colin Davies Craig Williams 7 58.5
5 SECRET FLYER Mark Young Logan McGill 5 58.5
6 APPREHEND Tony Vasil Kelvin Sanderson 11 58.5
7 KEANO (NZ) Danny O'Brien Nicholas Hall 4 58.5
8 SHOOT OUT John Wallace Stathi Katsidis 1 58
9 TOLLESPRIT Shane Fliedner Steven Arnold 3 58
10 VELOCITEA (NZ) Mick Price Craig Newitt 6 56.5
11 ELUMINO Peter G Moody Luke Nolen 2 56.5
Early fave is VELOCITEA at $3.20 in front of SHOOT OUT ($3.70), ELUMINO ($7.50), TOLLESPRIT ($8), KEANO ($9) and STANZOUT ($9.50).
SHOOT OUT was one of my favourite runners during the Autumn but I'm hesitant to take him at the early quote with him first up over 1200m and going the Melbourne way of running. A fairly open race I think. |

I'm predicting a big Spring for the mighty Queenslander Shoot Out. His electrifying sprint brings him into this race if the speed is hot in front but I'm sure connections will be quite happy with a fast finishing place.
I think the G1 Underwood Stakes over 1800m will be right up his alley in September. I know he won a Derby but I'm not convinced he'll run the 3200m of "The Cup".

I really like Elumino in this one. Moody / Nolen combo are known to have a win or two!! |

Great win by Shoot Out, Stathi didn't even have to move on him until the last 100m and he did it easy - good things to come from him over the Spring.
Cheers,

Yeah great effort considering he was ridden against his normal pattern of racing. Definitely big things to come as he will improve greatly on that run. |

What a super win by a very talented Queenslander (again). Skys the limit for him this time in. Thats a win they probably didn't count on when they planned their assault in Melbourne.
